Well despite it coming out in October 2011 this underrated game needs the review it deserves.
Skylanders is a interesting 8 hour platforming with interesting ideas such as the toys and the portal.
Really good game with collectibles, good Achievements/Trophies, puzzles, good controls and thought out combat.
However Skylanders isn't without its negatives with only a few technical difficulties and can suffer from repetitiveness depending on your number of models/toys.
Last level has a ridiculous difficulty spike and the difficulty of some levels seems to depend how many toy you have.
You have to buy more toys/models from shops (Target, K-mart/ Walmart, T'r us) for a lot of money that some people can't afford (1 for $15 or 3 for $30)
I give Skylanders a 8.5/10
The score could have been higher if it wasn't for a few technical issues and the huge difficulty spike at the end.
