Darksiders 2 Review Empty
PostSubject: Darksiders 2 Review   Darksiders 2 Review EmptyMon Aug 20, 2012 3:03 am

Darksiders 2 completes a fantasy that gamers have been asking for, for a long time
To play as Death
The Reaper, Kinslayer, these are some of the names the oldest of the 4 horseman goes by but we know him as Death

Darksiders 2 trys to improve things from the 1st game, and adds some of its own tricks.
Darksiders 2 implements a loot system which involves Armor, Weapons and of course; money
The Loot system is great to begin with powering up Death increasing his stats.
But after a while you start to feel less and less happy and excited by the loot.

But the feeling goes away when you pick up your first possesed weapon
A possesed weapon basically eats other weapon to level up and gains extra bonus depending on the weapon you sacrifice
The loot becomes less about powering up yourself and more about creating the most powerful weapon in the game.
This is great mostly, but the loot over time become less and less meaningful.

Death has a very different combat style to what War did in first game
The major difference is Death can't block, but he can dodge any attack
Combat is fast and furious with array of different weapons including a mandorary sythe (Can be replaced with different sythes) and a secondary weapon which come in different sizes and speed.
Elemental types can change battle tactics such as ice freezing/slowing down, or fire dealing extra damage over time

The main HUB Worlds have different settings but have simliar builds.
The NPCS are mainly forgettible but there are a few interesting characters
The quests are different but have similar goals
The puzzels are good and are hard enough to feel like you've achieved something but not easy enough to do without thought

The negatives are few but are there
Darksiders 2 trys to add extra platforming moves such as running across walls and the deathgrip
Darksiders 1 had a basic platforing system that worked really well and wass a great part of the game
Darksiders 2 on the other hand trys to add to the equation and is a hit and miss affair.
The platforming levels are more heavily pushed opon players
Theres no double jump anymore which takes away a platforming dimention that works

The pro out way the Con and I recommend buying this game that can last between 16-32 hours
Darksiders 2 gets a 9/10
